Couldn't find anything on it is the SDK docs, but will look more today. So know I'm thinking I ineed to out them somewhere. The ones I couldn't get to work came from the Adobe SDK. I found this one in c:\program files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX. The only one that was succesful was pdfshell.dll. I try to register the ones above but they all fail. On the server as well, at least the dll regestetred.

Now I think I will probably have to have Acrobat I plan to have Acrobat standard loaded on, which I was told told is basicly the same as Acrobat pro.

So I'm opening the pdf file on client machine. 'Set AVDoc object gAvDoc = CreateObject( "AcroExch.AVDoc" ) GApp.ToolButtonRemove( "AcroForm:WidgetTool" ) gApp.SetActiveTool( "Pencil Tool", 0) ' show Acrobat gApp.MenuItemRemove( "Open" ) 'Initialize Acrobat by creating App object gApp = CreateObject( "AcroExch.App" ) 'gPDFPath = "C:\sandbox\MEAP install_guide.pdf" 'hard coding for a PDF to open, it can be changed when needed. Session( "FilePath" ) = DetailsView1.DataItem(10) If detailViewFlag Then Session( "Test" ) = DetailsView1.DataItem(5)

So first of all, here is my vb.net code to open a document in Acrobat 8. Other than displaying, you can use the Acrobat objects on the server. The second mistake that you are doing is that you are trying to Show the Acrobat app which is not possible on a webserver. Launch and Activation Permissions -> Customize Edit and add ASPNET and grant Local Launch and Local Activation rightsĪccess Permissions -> Customize Edit and add ASPNET and grant Local Access rights

To grant rights to ASPNET, use dcomcnfg.exe,Ĭomponent Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> DCOM Config -> AcroExch.PDBookmark This, you have to impersonate a domain user who has rights to do so or else grant the required rights to ASPNET user(not recommended). This user has limited rights and one of those limitations is that by default it does not have permission to create objects like AcroExch.App. Completing a form without first downloading it will not save your information.I didn't notice it earlier but you are doing quite a few things in your code that you cannot in web aplications.įirst of all, your application is most probably running in the context of ASPNET user.

Opening a form in a browser window is not the same as downloading it first.

If you do not download the form first and access it using a PDF reader program, your form will not save properly and you may lose all of your information. You must first download to your computer the form you wish to complete and open it using a PDF reader. In order to use any of the individual forms, NOTE: The applications and forms below are in PDF format.
